i was just wondering if anyone could help me i have black hair at the min nd would like to dye it the colour of chantelle houghtons but was just thinkin would i just go ahead nd dye on top of it or would i have to lighten it first thanx :)

Have it lightened by a professional hair colorist.

Hiya my advice would be to wait until it washes out, or lighten it, but be careful it does not turn an auburn, or even a strange colour. Black is a stark colour to change straight away and should be handled with utmost care. good luck.

I believe a hairdresser would strip the color from your hair first. You can't easily lighten haircolor at home yourself. Once the hair is stripped, then the lighter brown shade can be applied.

u have to lighten it first, u cant cover black hair with brown dyes. best way is to go to the hairdressers

You would have to go to a salon and have a pro do it, this sounds like a disaster waiting to happen, I can already foretell what is going to happen, you will try to lighten it yourself and end up with bright orange roots, prove me wrong

The best thing to do is go and talk to your hairdresser. They will advise you the best way to do it, and the best way to get the colour you want!

Why on earth would you want to copy a nobody like Chantelle.

I believe you would have to lighten(bleach) it first. But please check with a hairdresser first. You can call a salon and ask them.

well it depends if u want it more darker than in the box leave it black!!!but if u want it the same colour as in the box then lighten it first!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!byyyee
