No. Skinneyness is not a passing phase. You might try worming your cat before taking it in to see the vet to see if this does any good. I do not know how old your cat is and so all I can do is give you some examples.

Generally older, thin cat that throws up a lot can mean that it has cancer. Cats can throw up so much and then it can do irrepairable liver damage.

A relatively young thin cat can throw up because it's sphincter muscle is not working properly (the sphincter muscle is the muscle that allows food through to the stomach from the esophagus). Again, too much throwing up can cause irrepairable liver damage.

A thin cat at any age can have worms.
A thin cat at any age could have been poisoned.
A thin cat at any age, which may throw up and lays out sunbathing frequently can have cat leukemia.
A thin cat can have both vomitting and diarrhea.

And the list continues. This is why vets like to see the cats and do lab work that costs so much money that it irritates people to death. This is why the vet asks you what seems to be dorky questions, but has major significance to them.

Whether you take the cat to the vet first or worm the cat first is your option. If you are super worried about your cat, I would take it to the vet first regardless if it means having to borrow a dollar or two from one of your friends. If you are not terribly worried, you might try worming it first. This maybe all that is needed, but again, it might not.

Sorry I couldn't be any better help. Because of things like above that I mentioned, this is the reaon you see me write on so many people's animal medical questions, take it to the vet. There are so many variables to consider, it mind boggling.

This doesn't sound good to me. This cat needs to see a vet. If you can't afford to take him, why don't you take him to the Humane Society? Maybe they can help.
If not, maybe you should consider giving the cat to someone who can give him medical attention. I know it's a tough decision, but you have to think of what's best for HIM.
Perhaps you could call a Vet. They may be able to give you some ideas over the phone.
Maybe the cat just needs to be wormed.
GOOD LUCK!!

Take the cat to the vet immediatly. Especially if this has been persisting for a while. It's not good taking chances. Unless your cat eats grass a lot which makes them regurgitate often if they eat too much, take the cat to the vet just to be safe.

Find a way to afford the vet and take him. If he's losing weight and throwing up a lot there could be a problem.

If you can't go to the vet, call your local shelter, aspca, animal organization. They can help you out.

Go to the vet. If someone sees that cat in that condition you could get in trouble. You dont want to be charged with animal cruelty.

Take the cat to a veterinary hospital immediately. I think your cat may have an intestinal blockage. Even if you don't have any money, most hospitals will go by a payment plan or refer you to one that is low cost. Do it now or your cat could die a very painful death if it is a blockage!!!

He probably has worms, at least call a vet, they charge me $15 to do a stool sample check to look for worms. Just bring in the poop and they do the rest.

He probably has worms. If you care anything for your cat, you would borrow the money to take him to the vet.
