Or did you find a brand that will stay together and hold the contents? What a waste of money, purchasing a package, only to find they pop open or are thin and have a hole where it's supposed to form the seam. Do you know a good name brand for me to try?

Have you tried making Pita bread your self? I think that is the best way to get it where its thick enough...just remember the oven has to be hot enough so the bread puffs up and makes a hollow. Foodtv.com has lots of good pita recipes.

There is a type of flat bread that I find very similar to pita bread, but it is much thicker. More expensive as well, but you get what you pay for! I see this at Walmart, Kroger... always right beside the pita bread. I heap on the fillings and fold it over... very similar, but the bread is actually much tastier and more filling, and it doesn't fall apart. Kind of like eating a combination between pita and taco (the ends are open unless you are a pro at folding them in)!

You might also try putting non-wet things at the bottom, or putting the part you cut off at the top along the bottom to reinforce it.

This may sound disgusting to you. You have to we the pita just a little before you stuff it. Don't soak it just damp it a little. Then after you stuff it , you can enjoy. You also can dab a little of zesty Italian dressing.
