Keep it clean!!!

How come the mr whippy syrup tastes nice but the shop bought ice cream sauces taste disgusting?

My sister in law bought a bottle off the ice cream man when she was pregnant because she couldnt get enough of the stuff! Now I can't (I'm not pregnant though!).

I know what you mean about vinegar from the chippy, this is the same boat!

Its probably the creamy ice cream that is on the cones - its a better delivery system for the sauce flavour.

These syrups have never seen fresh strawberries so I would guess the flavouring used would also have a big influence.

know what you mean but i don`t know where you would get it, it is just the best ever, mr whippy used to come around our street but never seen him for years, miss him so much ( well his ice cream and sauce ) lol hope you find out, good luck and i will try and find out as well xx

they buy it in tubs from the wholesalers.
maybe its like chips, the vinegar at home never tastes as good than when the chippy puts it on!

Fresh Raspberries, fresh ingredients purchased and used the same day without refrigeration.

OMG, you can buy bottle of it off the iceream man? I am so going to do that! It is delicious isn't it, I always ask them to be generous with the sauce :D A flutter of my eyelashes and they usually oblige :D

It could be the ripeness of the fruit ...
a mixture with other fruits.... like red currant or black cherry....
it could be a kind of sugar ... or the syrup they use ....
maybe the addition of a little orange zest... or black currant, even ... I'l betcha it's black currant ... or could it be cranberry, dried?

Its just the sugar level thats more in the industrial version.
The flavours incidental.
