My friend just found out her alien registration a few months ago, to renew it cost $260..can she not renew and send in her application in to take the test for naturalization..how long can she go w/o renew, if she's waiting for an appt from the immigration, is there any forms she has to get? To get a immigration lawyer, how is everything and is it going to be worth it? Thank You

It's going to cost and cost and cost until she goes to jail or leaves. I'm sorry. That is what I've observed here in Florida. On the other hand, it costs you and me a lot to live in the U.S., too, doesn't it?! (Taxes, licenses, fees, fines) And it's probably worth it. Yes, I would be wise to get in line for naturalization, but don't count on that happening any time soon.

I would renew it just in case. I take it you are saying she is applying for citizenship. She should contact immigration and ask there. If it expires she may have to apply all over again.
