Hello, only your friend can tell you how it feels, since it is her experience. The bible teaches that one who speaks in tongues with no intepreter around is like a person speaking a foreign dialect with no translator, the others present will not be edified.
If this is what God teaches then anything apart from this is......... Not to take away from her experience but one has to look and see what God says about such things.
Hope this helps, and if not have a great day anyway.

My Grandmother spoke in tongues. This was totally beyond her control. The Holy Spirit would just take over her speech and body. Those out there that think this is fake should read the Bible. Whenever I have doubts about God, I remember my Grandmother and know for a fact that God does exist. I feel sorry for anyone that has not been able to witness a Christian speaking in tongues. I am glad that my three daughters were able to see and hear their Great-Grandmother speak in tongues before she passed away. That is an experience that they will never forget and will always remember. Be happy for your friend and know that she has a very close relationship with God and the Holy Spirit.

Well, I have been blessed in my life to have been able to speak in tounges twice. And for me, both times I was very very deep in prayer, and in my head, I was speaking english, so I understood everything that was coming out of my mouth. Out of my mouth sounded almost like an instrument, but something very beautiful.
I was warm all over, and I felt a very close connection with God, like I knew he was there and he cared, and he loved me.
I was praying some very deep things, and when it ended, I just started speaking in english, the same things I had been asking while speaking in tongues and I knew my answer immediatly. I also felt incredibly strong in the Spirit and for weeks was addicted to my bible.
That is just my expirience, but others could be different.
Oh - Its also important to note that tongues are not meant to be in public unless God has arranged for a translator. God is not a God of chaos, he is a God of structure. Both of my expiriences were while I was alone in prayer.

I have not been fortunate enough to feel the spirit or speak in tongues just yet. I've heard it feels great. You have no control over yourself. I heard its a joyful feeling you get and that then you feel at peace afterwards. You should ask your friend about her experience

It feels wonderful. I haven't really danced in the Spirit, but I do speak in tongues. It is like a mountaintop experience. It feels great. It is also an emotional high, make no mistake, but it is mainly a spiritual high.

I'm instinctively compelled to answers questions "only for christians". I'll be damned. Can you ask your friend if she can teach you to speak in tongues? Your doing a lousy job.
