My hair is naturally medium brown. I dyed it a dark red and now i want to go back to my natural hair color. How would i go about doing that?

You would need to remove all the color then , dye it to a color that's close to your natural color. I'd suggest using a bleach free formula, like L'Oreal ColorZap Haircolor Remover , which you can get from Sally's. It's gentle enough for you to use & then dye your hair back right afterwards. It only costs about $10 & I have used it a couple of times & it does a good job.

I wouldn't suggest just putting dye over your current color for 3 reasons :

1) Color cannot lift colored hair.
2) If you were to just apply the brown over the red, it will come out a combination of the 2, with the red showing through.
3) There's a chance it could look "muddy"

do you have a Sallys beauty supply or anything near you? I would go and get some medium hair dye and just put it over the red, stripping can cause your hair some serious damage. I have an addiction to hair dye, and have been in your shoes, also try using some dish soap on your hair now to get some of the red out.
Good luck

try washing with head and shoulders, it strips and fades colour because of some weird chemicals in it. (don't ask me how, i just know that a friend dyed her hair and kept using that and the dye all ran out and another friend used it to tone down some red highlights)
Good luck!

you cannot strip hair color out of hair but if you go to a pro they can help you out or cut it really short so it will grow out fast
