This seems to occur esp. in the Religion/Spirituality sectoin. When ever you ask a question to make a point you automatically will only choose a best answer that agrees with you and not a logical explanation to your question.

Why is it that people do this? Can't people just ask a sincere question?

Why?

Because they can.

They feel what they have to say needs to be said. They think they are smarter than most of the rest of us, and we can benefit by their "wisdom."

But, this IS a question and answer site, so you can click Report Abuse and report the posts as Not a Question.

If it is removed, the poster will be docked 10 points to discourage them from posting statements in the future (maybe).

It would be nice to see more real questions on this site. But it's up to all users to report all violations of the Guidelines (link, bottom of page).

Many people don't really have a question regarding their religion or spirituality. The questions are asked in order to elicit responses from those that both agree and disagree with their position. I think many times the questions are geniune enough, but the answers are used to validate their own beliefs. Or sometimes they are just used to inflame people who disagree with them. Either way...it's still kind of fun.

I see, you regularly choose an opposing viewpoint as your best answer. I'll have to check out your history for myself.

I ask lots of sincere questions, Guess what, they get reported by small minded Christians. Like, Is Jesus really about enlightenment.? Reported and deleted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Essentially they're seeking opinions on their viewpoint by putting it out there, so this is a good forum for that. Maybe they'll get some good feedback to make them think about their views.

If you see something that's plain wrong like the way creationists misrepresent evolution for example you need to make a statement to try and challenge their ignorance.
