You could be out to dinner,at home entertaining guests, or sitting at the dinner table with family, it's still in public. It is disgusting either way.

if a person has a runny nose, then by all means he should turn away from the table while quickly and quietly blow his nose. but, i find it absolutely repulsive when an old man, who is in perfect view of people who are in mid-bite, pulls out his hanker chief or uses the cloth napkin at the table to make a whole production out of blowing his nose... while people across the restaurant are wondering who's playing the trumpet.

Definitely a no-no at the dinner table, and in public, I'd say it was dependant on the circumstances. It's just common sense not to blow one's nose while eating, or around others who are. It's obvious that germs could easily be spread to food.

Yes it is disgusting. Just leave the table go to the bath room and do that stuff.. It is a neccessary evil... however you don't have to share it with the whole world... especially when everyone is trying to enjoy an expensive meal at a restaurant!

No. I find it much worse if they just wipe there nose or just let it keep dripping. Also I hate sniffers it's like blow the nose already sniffing the germs back up doesn't help. So I prefer them to blow.

I don't prefer it, and I do think it may be a bit disgusting. In my opinion, it should be done in the most private place possible at the time...
