It all depends on your unit. Most units I've been in required 1.5 hours every morning, Monday through Friday. Each day you had to run a minimum of 4 miles, with the exception of Thursdays, which we do ruck (backpack) marches. The rest of the time would be filled with muscular fitness (a lot of pull-ups, push-ups, and abdominals).

In the army and in my unit we did it 5 times a week for 1 1/2 hours plus "Special PT" for those that were failing for 1 hour in the afternoon and once on the weekends. Then of course there were the toolboxes and the Hummer tires and the wrenches ( oh Lord the Wrenches!) that we lugged around all day so perhaps a good amount of time was spent PT'ing.

Depends on your job. I was a Sonar Tech on Submarines and I can tell you that I did absolutely no exercising at all. Not out at sea, not while in port. In fact, once I left bootcamp there was no rigid, enforced exercise plan for us. I was in school in Connecticut for 1 year and then in San Diego for another year of school and 4 years on 2 different submarines and the only time I ever had to do any physical exercise was every 6 months for our physical fitness test. We had to do like 35 sit-ups, 25 push-ups and run 1.5 miles in under 22 minutes or so. And that was it. And we didn't even always do that every 6 months like we were supposed to. If we were out at sea we just forgot about it until the next one rolled around.

Generally an hour to an hour-and-a-half per session. When I was in, some units did PT five days a week, some did only three days a week.
