I'm not quite sure where this idea originated. No, God does not have a plan for everyone. First, God does not "plan." He wills. And God does not will everybody's life. Think about that for a moment. If he did, it would interfere with your free will. God wills things in general. For instance, when he created Adam and Eve, it was his will that they live forever in perfection on a paradise earth without disease, sickness or death.
That is still his will. He fully intends for his word to be fulfilled in this connection. But he makes no plans for individuals. And he does not will the lives of individuals either. Basically, God's will, according to 1 Timothy 2:4 is that all sorts of men be saved and come to an accurate knoweldge of truth.

God has a plan for everyone each to his own conviction my sister. To find out Gods plan for you, you must first pray. I believe that through that first prayer the Lord will start answering you. But first you must seek his temple. That temple is you. You must maintain a clean temple because he dwells within you and his within you all the time. When I say maintain a clean temple I literraly mean just do not engage in sex and defile your body while you are still not married. That alone is only going to keep the Lord silent. Now I know that It's hard to sustain from engaging in having sex, but that's the way.

God's general plan for everyone is written in the Bible. God's plan for the individual is revealed as your relationship with God grows. God has given us free will because He didn't wan't a race of robots. He won't force His will on anyone. He wants you to choose His will and His way.

He wants you to live a Godly obedient life. If you try to live your life in a moral way, his plan for you will be revealed one step at a time. Study your Bible and always try to live in obedience. Don't try to jump ahead of him by doing things that are not in line with his ways. In the Old Testament, God spoke through the prophets and he only revealed to people what he wanted them to do one day at a time. He did not give them the full picture. So just do what is right and trust him.

You seek Him above all else. As you seek Him, you learn who He is, and in that, you learn who you are. When you know who you are, you know where you're supposed to go, and what you should do.
He gives guidance in prayer times, in the Word, and through our authorities (parents, pastors, mentors, and even friends) God usually give a confirmation or two on big stuff you're seeking guidance on.
A cheesy example - you have a heart for Africa, you pray, seek guidance... you randomly come across a verse in your daily reading that says something about preaching the gospel to the nations... then you get a flyer in the mail from a mission group in Africa. It could come in any form. Definitely pray and talk to a pastor type or a parent.

When you are quiet and ask him what it is. When you hear that big, soft voice in your head, that tells you and it's usually not your idea.
