Do the toxic chemicals themselves cause cancer? No

It is exposure to the chemicals through inhalation, injestion, absorbsion that can lead to buildup in the body which may cause you to be more suspectible to cancer - if you have a genetic dispostion for it.

Why else can people that smoke for 50 years never get cancer, yet others don't make it 25 years before being buried.

Each person will be affected differently.
