Sin is any thought, word or action which causes harm or destruction to any part of God's creation and is thought, said or done with the INTENT of causing that harm or destruction. This includes harming or destroying oneself, btw. You too are a part of God's creation.
Sinning by thinking of causing harm or destruction is considered so because with us so often the thought is swiftly followed by the deed. It's better therefore to squelch that thought as soon as it arises.

'Sin' is doing anything (even just thinking about it) that goes 'against God' ... and we ALL 'sin' every day whether we know it or not ... and that is why Jesus died on the cross ... he died to gain the forgiveness of God for ALL of our sins, which is VERY GOOD FOR US, even though we should still 'TRY' to live a life that is as 'free from sin as is possible' for us 'humans.'
That is why there is the 'saying' Let him who is WITHOUT SIN cast the first stone' ... because no matter how 'good' we think we are, we have 'sinned' and have been forgiven by God for it, even that very day, so we shouldn't 'do something against a sinner' simply because he has sinned ...
Sin is NOT 'committing a crime' however ... although most crimes are also sins. Being 'punished' by man for a crime committed doesn't change ANYTHING with God ... only 'acknowledging the sin' to God and asking him for forgiveness can 'do that' ... and there is NO WAY anyone can 'tell' what anyone else is doing in THAT REGARD from what they say or even 'do' ... only GOD KNOWS, so we should be 'careful' but we should also 'trust in the Lord' ...

The literal Greek translation in the New Testament means "to miss the mark." It is the picture of someone shooting at a target and completely missing. The mark would be the standard that God has set for us - sin would be us missing it.
The Bible defines it as "the transgression of the Law." Basically, sin is rooted in doing things your own way instead of God's.

Presuming to assume what God has ordained, thusly making ourselves God's we judge needing not God. Seperation In Now time, God created time, yet, there is no time with God. When we judge we become like God and don't need him. Who am I to say that if a couple ordained for marriage and annointed by God for each other has sex before the wedding that God did not purpose that in this that they got the idol out of the way. It's like being virgins and wondering if they will perform up to par. It becomes such a heavy thing on the relationship that it strains real commitment. So, I conclude that if it's worth having it's worth waiting for. Provided it happens then abstain till the wedding and the get married for the right reasons.

A sin is a temptation that the devil puts out there to collect more souls.
Another definition that's less scary sounding a transgression against God's rules like the commandments.

Sin theoretically( I propose in case you examine out the scriptural defenition) is something one is forbidden to do. The non secular standards of a deed observed as a sin are that if somebody is harm mentally, bodily or emotionally by way of you or your words, then this act is termed SIN. If i'm authorized to state my own definition of a sin, then i might say that its an act that makes me experience in charge when I even have carried out it.. because of the fact i think that there is element of God in me, because it is in each physique else that warns me of each action until eventually now i might desire to accomplish it. contained with regards to a sin, that voice nevertheless comprises my rescue in basic terms until eventually now the i will act yet its I who intentionally pushes it down with the intention to fulfill my ego or my act( which in a while is observed because of the fact the sin).

Namaste
I like my definition of "sin." In the Latin language "sin" might well be short for "sine" which means "without." In that case, it could mean "without grace from the Lord."
There is a lot of controversy raised by the Christian church which (yawn!) hardly seems worth the time it takes to get it away from us. Better to do Namasmarana.
At least there is something accomplished.

The best definition of sin is ( When God say no to something and we say yes.) That is the sin of every American and person in the world since the time of Adam. We say yes when God say no then we put ourselves in the place of God saying I determine whats right and whats wrong. That is Sin shortly saying Yes when God says No about something.

Doing wrong, that is against God's Will, God's Love for you. Like all those in the towns of Sodom and Gomorra, sparing my spelling. Read Galatians 5:19-24, and also John 14:6, and 1John 1:9. Jesus really does love YOU!
