I changed my entire diet and count calories. I am going to a party and just in general, I wanted to know the best drink. I am now drinking Rum and Diet but what about shots??? Are there any low cal or even half way decent shots to take?

If you have started a new diet, it probably means that you have cut down on fats and starches, which coat the stomach and absorb most other intake, namely alcohol. We all know that alcohol and medications or drugs are less effective when our stomachs are full. What we have ingested will absorb most of the alcohol, thus inhibiting it from going directly to the stomach lining and passing through the bloodstream and liver.
You are going to feel the effects of alcohol sooner and more intensely than you did prior to beginning your diet, but don't take that to mean you will get a "quicker and better buzz". You may get the opposite effect, dizziness, nausea, dry-heaves, headache. Alcohol is a bad choice all-around for dieting. Almost everything contains sugar for fermentation, ESPECIALLY wine. And alcohol is known to contribute to belly fat. Limit yourself to 2 drinks. Make them light, drink water in between, and have something to eat beforehand.

Almost everything has some sugars in it. Wine, foo foo drinks and beer are the worst culprits for dieters. Vodka straight up may be your best bet BUT you WILL get hungry and should always have food in your stomach when drinking.

Go for a light meal and Go have fun!

work out a little extra the next day...

I usually go with vodka and soda water (you can even get diet) with squeeze of lime and lemon, for shots I do kamikazee's because it's just vodka and lime juice and s&s. Then your not mixing any different liquors! Cosmo's are good too, vodka and cranberry or OJ.. at least if your going to drink calories you can get some vitamins and antioxidants. Pomegranite juice is really good too, in vodka or champagne.

the best things to take are straight grain alcohols mixed with diet cokes. grain alcohols generally have 60-70 calories per shot. where as drinks and other sweetened shots have WAY more. stick with what you have been drinking. if you have to do shots try to do a shot and then chase it with your diet drink.

Forget the diet for the night. Any and all alchohol contains "empty" calories, just like fat calories (that's why guys get the beer bellies...it's not really beer in there...). In addition, alcohol slows your metabolism (strike two). Finally, alchohol makes the body crave fatty foods ie. pizza, fried foods, burgers, etc.
Forget the diet for one night. Get back on the wagon tomorrow.
