The store bought ones seem too dense. I'm looking for something creamier. Thanks.

We used to call it California Dip

1 pkg Lipton French Onion soup mix
1 pkg Cream Cheese
milk

Soften the cream cheese with a little milk, so you can stir the soup mix in. Then just add milk to the desired consistency.

I just made this awesome cucumber dip last night! It's great on jerked chicken skewers, which is what i did. It would be really good as a veggie dip too. It's cool and refreshing, a lighter tasting alternative to those heavier french onion types :o) 25 ounces cucumber 7 ounces sour cream 7 ounces mayonnaise 1 ounce cider vinegar 1/2 ounce salt Pinch cayenne pepper 1/2 ounce Dijon mustard 1/2 ounce garlic 4 ounces onion Peel and seed the cucumber, give it a rough chop. Add cucumber, garlic and onions to a food processor and chop it pretty small. In a bowl, combine the rest of the ingredients. Add in the cucumber mix. Chill well. I like more cayenne than this calls for! Enjoy!

I always use this recipe and everyone loves it! It is so simply & tasty! I usually add more garlic, but that depends on your taste, and it gets much more flavorful/strong the longer it is refrigerated.

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup butter, softened
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
2 tablespoons chopped onion
1 clove garlic, minced

1. In a medium mixing bowl combine cream cheese and butter, mixing until well blended. Add parsley, onion and garlic and mix well.
2. Refrigerate for 1 to 3 hours. The mixture becomes more flavorful the longer it chills.

**Hope that helps!

Sour cream mixed to taste with part of an envelope of dry Lipton's onion soup mix. Be sure to get lots of the brown crumbly stuff at the bottom of the envelope. It's great. It gets a bit stronger flavor if left in refrigerator for a day.

I, too, use Lipton Onion Soup mix (powder), but use sour cream rather than cream cheese. Yum.

Oh, and to make it look like you spent forever on it, get a sourdough bread loaf - cut out the top (making it into a bowl) and serve. Use the bread you cut out to put the dip on.

Peel about 4 onions, drizzle them with a little olive oil and bake them at 170 degrees celsius for 30 minutes. Let them cool, chop them fine and add to thick whipped yoghurt. Add some salt to taste, red chilly powder and roasted cumin. Enjoy with crispies, cheese or anything else
