I mean millions of people have died more prolonged, excruciating deaths for reasons far less worthy then saving the world. In my opinion it would be pretty selfish of anyone not to give up there life for so noble a cause.

Hon, it's not the way He died. It's THAT He died for us, not for any sin or lawlessness on His part. THAT'S why the spotless, pure Lamb of the Passover is a preeminent symbol of Jesus Christ, the sinless Sacrificial Lamb for all mankind.

Granted, there may be other deaths as painful and as torturous, but hey! It's the best the Romans could do. And they were professionals, gotta give 'em that.

It's probably outta print, but you might wanta try and find a little book titled, "A Doctor Looks at Calvary" by Pierre Barbet, MD. WARNING: Do NOT read this book on a full stomach! Trust me. I found that out the hard way!

Dear ignorant,

To most people, Jesus was just a good man that lived a humble life and continually helped people. However, the Bible informs us that ALL of mankind have transgressed the law of God and the penalty is eternal damnation. Jesus, God in flesh, came to pay the sin debt for those whom He had chosen out of rebelious humanity. Many people state, "well those 2 thieves that were crucified with Him suffered just as much as Jesus." The fact of the matter is, that Jesus was suffering the equivalent of spending eternity in hell condensed into the hours from the Garden of Gethsemanae to His words on the cross, "It is finished." He paid the awsome penalty demanded by Almighty God for those individuals He had chosen to save. He did not pay for the sins of the whole world because then no person would end up in hell but the Bible assures us that hell will be very heavily populated. So I hope you get an idea of the great suffering that Christ endured to save some of those that deserved hell.

Why do people make such a big deal about Jesus being crucified?

1 GOD became a man !
2 HE was perfect in all ways !
3 HE was seen by angels as HE was
originally (THE GOD), and as a man !
4 HE taught the non Jewish ( as well as many Jews) !
5 HIS teachings were (and are) believed by MANY people !
6 HE returned to HIS place - we call that place heaven !

This is The Entire Story required to beco

Hahahahahahaha This is the lamest question today.. No wait, of the entire week!
Ok, check this question out… Name just one more excruciating death than crucifixion (just one supergenius)? Now, of course, I’m presupposing you even have one iota of understanding into what someone goes through when they are crucified. But, there again I overestimate your cognitive thought prowess. Try doing some research prior to asking such poor questions, followed up by even less though provoking statements.
I think it was Aristotle that said “The wise man has something to say, the fool has to say something”. My friend you fall into the latter.

IT WAS NOT JUST THAT HE WAS CRUCIFIED. IT WAS THAT HE FULFILLED PROPHECY OF WHO THE MESSIAH WOULD DIE AND UP TO ALL THE OTHER PROPHECIES.....INCLUDING THAT HE WOULD REMAIN SILENT IN COURT, THEM GAMBLING OVER HIS CLOTHS, NOT A BONE WOULD BE BROKEN, HIS SIDE WOULD BE PIERCED, WHERE HE WOULD BE BURIED, THAT HE WOULD BE FLOGGED, THAT HE WOULD BE BEATEN BEYOND RECOGNITION, AND UP TO 200 ALL TOGETHER.

Jesus Christ's Life and Death in Prophecy
Many are vaguely aware that Jesus Christ's birth, life and death were prophesied in the Hebrew Scriptures, the Old Testament. But few are aware of the sheer number of predictions and the astonishingly precise details foretold up to thousands of years in advance. These predictions are a powerful confirmation of the accuracy of Bible prophecy.

The Jewish New Testament lists 52 prophecies fulfilled in Christ's birth, life and death as stated in 81 passages in the Old Testament (pp. xxv-xxix). In many ways the Old Testament pointed forward to Christ's first and second comings. All the Messianic Prophecies of the Bible discusses not only hundreds of specific prophecies, but many events, people, rituals and sacrifices recorded in the Hebrew Scriptures that foreshadowed the life, death, ministry and return of Jesus Christ (Herbert Lockyer, 1973).

What were some of the prophecies Jesus fulfilled? Let's notice a few:

• He would be a descendant of King David (Isaiah 11:1-5; Matthew 1:1, 6).

• He would be born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2; Matthew 2:1).

• One would precede Him who would announce His coming (Isaiah 40:3, 5; Malachi 3:1; Matthew 3:1-3).

• His own people would reject Him (Isaiah 53:3; John 1:11).

• A friend would betray Him (Psalm 41:9; John 13:18-30).

• The price for His betrayal would be 30 pieces of silver (Zechariah 11:12; Matthew 26:15).

• The 30 pieces of silver would buy a potter's field (Zechariah 11:13; Matthew 27:3-10).

• Wicked people would pierce His hands and feet (Psalm 22:16; Luke 23:33; 24:38-40).

• He would suffer execution but without the breaking of any of His bones (Psalm 34:20; John 19:33-36).

• Others would cast lots for His garments (Psalm 22:18; John 19:23-24).

• He would be buried with the wealthy (Isaiah 53:9; Matthew 27:57-60).

• God would resurrect Him from the grave (Psalm 16:10; Acts 2:30-32).

Jesus Himself could not have controlled how these prophecies were fulfilled. No one can control the circumstances of His own birth, who his ancestors are and where he is born. Nor could He control the actions of others in betraying Him, putting Him to death and laying His body in the unused tomb of a wealthy man. Yet the prophets had written these remarkable details in advance up to 1,000 years earlier. King David predicted even details of Christ's death by crucifixion hundreds of years before the practice of crucifixion became common as a method of execution.

The four Gospels abound with accounts of how many Messianic prophecies were fulfilled, but Christ's closest followers didn't recognize their fulfillment at the time. Only in hindsight were they able to recognize many specific prophecies recorded in the Hebrew Scriptures and how they had been fulfilled.

Many prophecies regarding Jesus Christ are yet to be fulfilled. The Encyclopedia of Biblical Prophecy lists more than 200 prophecies of the Messiah, most of which are yet to come to pass (Barton Payne, 1996, pp. 665-670). Just as the many precise details of Christ's birth, life, death and resurrection came to pass exactly as foretold, so will the many prophecies that relate to His second coming be fulfilled exactly as spelled out in God's Word.

You do realize that this is the basis of my religion right? Jesus was crucified, the only perfect human, was crucified for our sins, and because of His dying and raising from the dead, we have a secure eternal life. Nope, that's not a big deal at all . . . . . *shakes head*

Please dont criticize any religion unless you know what yur saying.
Jesus died to save us from our sins. He was innocent yet still he was crucified. He died that day so that we could live on after death. That day he opened the door to heaven for all of us.
His last words before he died were 'Father, forgive them for they no not what they are doing'
You have to understand how important he is to us. He is God's son, the chosen one. God could have saved his son and brought him done from the cross but he had to die to save us.
Jesus loved us so much that he died for us...

His death was the only human death sufficiently meritorious to give humans the opportunity to have eternal life.

Because Jesus came back to life. much as He brought Lazarus back, and no one else has ever been able to do that.
It proves Jesus is God.
