Acts 7:23 "Now when he [Moses] was forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren, the children of Israel."

Acts 7:30 "And when forty years had passed, an Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire in a bush, in the wilderness of Mount Sinai."

Exodus 7:7 "And Moses was eighty years old and Aaron eighty-three years old when they spoke to Pharaoh."

Deut. 24:7 "Moses was one hundred and twenty years old when he died. His eyes were not dim nor his natural vigor diminished."

That's the kind of blessing you get when you have the power of God on your side!

I thought that Moses was more like 80 or something when he freed the Jews, but I could be wrong.

My aunt is 82 and she gets around just as well as a 40 year old, so I suppose that it dependes on the person.

After Moses had reached adulthood, he went to see how his brethren who were enslaved to the Egyptians were faring. Seeing an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, he killed the Egyptian and hid his body in the sand, supposing that no one would be disposed to reveal the matter knew of it. The next day, seeing two Hebrews quarreling, he endeavored to separate them, whereupon the Hebrew who was wronging the other taunted Moses for slaying the Egyptian. Moses soon discovered from a higher source that the affair was known, and that Pharaoh was likely to put him to death for it; he therefore made his escape to the Sinai peninsula and settled with Hobab, or Jethro, priest of Midian, whose daughter Zipporah he in due time married. There he sojourned forty years, following the occupation of a shepherd, during which time his son Gershom was born.

At age 120, Moses dies by God's decree just before the people enter the land known in recent centuries as Palestine and Israel.

ah, so young. Moses is interesting. While the bible says he 'died' before going into the promised land, he is mentioned elsewhere (e.g. Luke 9:30). This was before the resurrection of Jesus. So we understand that Moses was a translated being (like Elijah). It was necessary that he be translated, in order to have a body of flesh and bones at the time of the transfiguration (so he could perform the work on the mount of giving the keys to the mortal Peter, James, and John).

Moses was 40 when he killed the Egyptian and spent the next 40 years in the desert, so he was 80 when he came back to tell Pharoah to let God's people go.

Yes, people lived longer back then. . . . . like Noah, he was 100+ when he got off the ark . . . .

"By the first day of the first month of Noah's six hundred and first year, the water had dried up from the earth. Noah then removed the covering from the ark and saw that the surface of the ground was dry." Ex 8:13

Seems Moses was eighty years old when he was assigned to free the Israelites. Holy Spirit tends to keep you young and able.

Read Acts 7... I believe Stephen tells the story of Moses and he gives some age references to how old he was... can't remember off the top of my head.

TRY 80 YRS OLD AS IT SAYS HE WAS 40 WHEN HE LEFT EYGPT, 80 WHEN HE WENT BACK AND ANOTHER 120 YRS OLD WHEN HE REACHED THE PROMISE LAND. ALTHOUGH HE DIED BEFORE THEY ENTERED IT. DURING THAT TIME, PEOPLE LIVED ALOT LONGER AND HAD VERY HEALTHY LIFES. PLUS THEY ARE GOD'S CHOSEN PEOPLE AND THEREFORE COULD BE BLESSED BEYOND THE REST OF THE NATIONS DURING THAT TIME. ALSO JOSHUA WAS 80 WHEN HE ENTERED THE PROMISED LAND AND FOUGHT THOSE WHO LIVED THERE. I.E. THE BATTLE OF JERICHO.
