I have made many post here about things your church is promoting that is not supported by scripture. Actually scripture denounces many of your church practices and show them in there true light as being evil and a lie against God divine word.

If a church is teaching what is directly against the Scripture of God then it is in oppisition to God and truth. Jesus is truth.

His word stand on it own. You are sinners just like the rest of us. And i am sure you will agree on that. You are also able to be saved from that condition. It is called Grace, God grace is not the grace of the catholic church his Grace is rooted in truth. Jesus died for you, To him alone belongs salvation. This is his function to be the one insterment of salvation offerd to man. But many Jesus are preached in this time. If your Jesus is not lining up with the Jesus of the bible. You have a problem. You can believe on the wrong Jesus.
Are you saved?

Jesus said i am the way the life and the truth.
Jesus said no one comes to the father execpt by me.
God can't even hear you prayers execpt by Jesus.
There is one mediator between God and man Jesus Christ. It means after jesus died people can't even pray to Father with out going to Christ in Pray.
The bible given us instruction for prayer and who to pray to. The catholic church tells you to pray to the dead. The bible declares that of disobidence. The dead are in adifferent existianc today they are called dead because they are seperated from the living Check out revelation 19 and 20 they are dead and called the dead. We pray to the living who is Christ. The dead sleep in requards to the things of the earth. They can't even hear you right now. They are unaware of the earth and the things of th earth.
There is a reason it is this way, there time is past. They can get rewarded any more and they can't respond to you because they are dead.

Only Catholics?

2007-01-24 06:05:09 · answer #1 · answered by Anonymous · 2 0

Jesus Christ continually scolded the priests and Pharisees that they should not take the Scriptures so literally.

The parable of the Good Samaritan is an example of this. The people who passed the injured man and continued on their way were following Jewish Scripture which instructed Jews to stay away from the sick and injured lest they become ritually unclean and unable to enter the Temple.

The Catholic Church does not use Holy Scripture as the only basis of doctrine. It could not. The early Catholic church existed before and during the time that the New Testament was written (by Catholics).

There were hundreds of Christian writings during the first and second centuries. Which New Testament writings would become official was not fully decided until about 400 AD.

Catholics believe that the Holy Spirit was guiding the early church (and is guiding the church today) to make the correct choices about things like:
+ The Holy Trinity (which is also only hinted at in the Bible)
+ Going to church on Sunday instead of Saturday (which is actually directly against one of the Ten Commandments)
+ The Communion of Saints
+ Which writings include in the New Testament?

Things that are even more modern like
+ Slavery is bad. Slavery is never declared evil in the Bible. This was one of the justifications for slavery in the Confederate States.
+ Democracy is good. The Bible states that either God should be the leader of the nation like Israel before the kings or kings should be the leader, "Give to Caesar that which is Caesar's." This was talked about a lot during the American Revolution.

This second source of doctrine is called Apostolic Tradition.

Do Christians who do not allow the continuing guiding force of the Holy Spirit to make their beliefs more and more perfect, still endorse slavery as Colossians 3:22 commands, "Slaves, obey your human masters in everything"?

With love in Christ.

The thing is - that for Catholics, the Bible is not the be all and end all to our faith. Belief and acceptance of Jesus is all you need to be saved. Knowing every word in the Bible and quoting out scripture does not mean you have faith in Jesus or even accepted Jesus as savior.

Please do not tell others whether they are saved and there is a wrong Jesus. Jesus is Jesus. God is more than a book, always has been and always will be.

I forgive your lack of knowledge.

The Fathers' interpretation of Scripture and demonstrate that the early Church was unequivocally Catholic. Through the study of Scripture and the Church Fathers, we see that, not only is the Catholic faith biblical, Catholicism is Bible Christianity par excellence.

Because the Old and New Testament Scriptures are the divinely-revealed, written Word of God, Catholics venerate the Scriptures as they venerate the Lord's body. But Catholics do not believe that God has given us His divine Revelation in Christ exclusively through Scripture. Catholics also believe that God's Revelation comes to us through the Apostolic Tradition and teaching authority of the Church.

What Church? Scripture reveals this Church to be the one Jesus Christ built upon the rock of Saint Peter (Matt. 16:18). By giving Peter the keys of authority (Matt. 16:19), Jesus appointed Peter as the chief steward over His earthly kingdom (cf. Isaiah. 22:19-22). Jesus also charged Peter to be the source of strength for the rest of the apostles (Luke 22:32) and the earthly shepherd of Jesus' flock (John 21:15-17). Jesus further gave Peter, and the apostles and elders in union with him, the power to bind and loose in heaven what they bound and loosed on earth. (Matt. 16:19; 18:18). This teaching authority did not die with Peter and the apostles, but was transferred to future bishops through the laying on of hands (e.g., Acts 1:20; 6:6; 13:3; 8:18; 9:17; 1 Tim. 4:14; 5:22; 2 Tim. 1:6).

By virtue of this divinely-appointed authority, the Catholic Church determined the canon of Scripture (what books belong in the Bible) at the end of the fourth century. We therefore believe in the Scriptures on the authority of the Catholic Church. After all, nothing in Scripture tells us what Scriptures are inspired, what books belong in the Bible, or that Scripture is the final authority on questions concerning the Christian faith. Instead, the Bible says that the Church, not the Scriptures, is the pinnacle and foundation of the truth (1 Tim. 3:15) and the final arbiter on questions of the Christian faith (Matt. 18:17). It is through the teaching authority and Apostolic Tradition (2 Thess. 2:15; 3:6; 1 Cor. 11:2) of this Church, who is guided by the Holy Spirit (John 14:16,26; 16:13), that we know of the divine inspiration of the Scriptures, and the manifold wisdom of God. (cf. Ephesians 3:10).

You cannot divide the truth who is God, Jesus, The Holy Spirit. The teachings of the Church it is a seamless Garment. Tear it here, tear it there and soon the whole of it begins to unravel. It is like taking a stone out of the arch or putting a hole in the side of a boat. The arch collapses, the ship sinks

Hmmmm so let me get this straight. You believe that a book written over 1500 years ago, having gone through literally tens of translations, having been vetted by at least three councils (the first being the Nicene by Constantine) as to what should be in it or not, a book which has been re-edited to suit the politics of the day (the King James Version....note the word version) is the truth?

I've heard of blind faith but what you propose is nothing less then spiritual and intellectual suicide.

Christ existed, I personally believe this, but I doubt highly that He was such an egotist as too demand complete and utter servitude. I believe He meant us to live life, love life and be life. As my Grandmother once said to me, " God is not a celebrity in need of an ego boost from his children, he, like any good parent, simply wants them to be happy, at whatever they do in life "

Thomas A, it is because of people like you that there are so many negative comments on here about Christians. I will pray for you that God has mercy on your heart and mind. It is one thing to stand up for God, but by bashing others for their beliefs is just wrong.

"Therefore, go make disciples of all nations... " not enemies.

Thomas, I am not a Catholic but I would like to advise you to prove what you are criticizing the Catholics with, I carefully read your explanation and received no enlightenment, it actually says nothing but to show your dislike of Catholics.

My parish priest gave a homily two or three weeks ago on a similar subject. We Catholics believe that we have been saved, that we are saved and that we will be saved.

We agree that we are all sinners. We also agree that Christ is the savior.
