Say if you are just leaving you parents house for ur very frist time. You are in college right now, your finacial aid is paid for. the college is offering to find you a job as soon as you finish. You are looking for a job on the side while in college to save up for a apartment or small house and car. Your bf on the other hand was in the system "a foster child". So the government will pay for his first house and cover half of his bills. He is in college too majoring for engineer work. The gov. paid for all his finacial aid plus extra $ for living expense. After he graduates they will place him in one of there jobs and help him find a place untill he is 25 yr, He is 19 now. He has a car and money saved up already for right now. Together you both are looking for a place. But dont quite no how to start. Any comments or opinions?

By the way I'll be 18 when i finish college both of us with no kids.
Please adults only, educated answers with experience. Thankyou

You've mentioned the financial aspects but haven't said anything about the relationship. Do your parents approve or once you leave are you on your own? Your details seem to depend on the government and college following through on their promises. What happens if the college can't find you a job right away or the foster care system cuts back your bf's aid when the realize he is living with someone else? There are way too many factors to say whether or not this is a good decision; just make sure your relationship is secure and can survive if things don't go according to plan. As for finding an apartment, most require first, last and security deposits when you apply for the lease so you will need to do some saving. Browse the apartment adds in your local paper to get an idea of the going rate and make sure you read the lease thoroughly!

I think it sounds like a good idea. Since you say the government is going to pay half the bills and the house (which I am rather surprised to hear) you guys just need to make sure that you are employed somewhere. Nobody would rent to some kids without jobs.
I did this when I turned 18 and it was a great thing for me. The only bump in the road was that I became pregnant during my second year in college so my advice is use more than one type of birth control! And don't get carried away with partying just because you have the freedom too now, I've seen so many people fail out because of this.
