I would ask for a second opinion, alot of disorders can not be diagnosed at this age, something is not right and at 20mths old he and his parents need help, kick up a fuss at the wait for for scans. Ask for help with dealing with him, you and your husband cannot carry on with this on a daily and nightly basis

First of all, 20 months is very young to rule out any Dev. Disorders or Delays, I would see a Dev. Ped. or a Ped. Neuro.
My son had PDD ruled out at 2 yrs old by a Pschyc. and then at 3 went to a PED. Neuro. and had the dx of PDD-NOS.
So I would research and if what the Dr. is saying is not right to you ,keep pushing with other specialists...You know your child best.

If the doctor who told you this is not a developmental pediatrician, its time you go see one. These kinds of problems must be brought up to a specialist. Most pediatrician dont know much about autism, temper tantrums, night terror etc... when for us deep inside our herat we know something must be wrong. So please ask your ped to refer you to a develop. ped. Im a mother of a child with mild autism (pdd nos) and if it was to his ped. back then he would still not have developed his speech cause she always thought he was fine and that boys are always late bloomers.

I am not saying that the doctor is wrong, but if you feel the need for a 2nd opinion, then you should go for one. What about epilepsy, have they tested for that?

sounds like tantrums to me. Diana is right, u need to go see a specialist.
when he goes into the fits of rage, just keep him in a safe area so that he doesn't hurt himself. like maybe a playpen or strapped into a carseat or stroller. this way he doesn't hurt himself.
