I suppose it would depend on what type of reaction you are attempting to pull from him!?!
If it were me, I would be a bit flippant!

"Oh, thank God!" sigh heavily for effect, but look completely serious and relieved, "I thought perhaps it was just a one way street, and I hate driving alone!" Turn around, walk away and don't react for a moment!

Now, if he really feels this way he will ignore what you just said! However, if he truly does love you, he will probably make a smart remark or even chase you down! Should he tell you that your remark hurt his feelings tell me the feeling is mutual! You are obviously hurt when he says things like this, even in jest, and he should be made aware of it!
It is my opinion but when men or woman make comments like this, there is a bit of truth behind it! So, be very careful! If you don't want to know the answer you may have to continue ignoring his remarks. If you are like me and will not live or be with someone who does not love you, I suggest you take my advice! You don't want to be with someone who doesn't truly care for you, and you are only holding yourself back from true love if you do!

The best comeback would be to tell him to get lost and mean it, because its one of those things where he isnt joking he is serious because if he did love you really he wouldnt joke around like that, you'll see when true love is around you, although i'm starting to really wonder if it exists I think it does but nither person is ever willing to trust the other person fully ya know, good luck Kim

Tell him, that's OK, because my other BF loved me enough last night for the both of you. Say it in front of his friends and he will knock that Cr-p off. How rude and disrespectful to your feelings. I do not even think that is funny at all. Are you sure you want to be with someone who has the maturity level of a seedling?

How jokingly does he say this? It all depends with this. If he is saying it to be mean in any way at all I would just say fine, gather up my stuff and leave ;) and that would be part of the joke, too, of course.

Say something like:That's okay, I'm just passing my time with you anyway, until someone better comes along... that should be a good come back for you... and it will sting too...
