...suddenly stops eating her food? I recently got a female Rott, probably one and a half to two years old, and her diet has changed in the past few days (since I'm feeding her different, better food than what she was eating before). Could this cause her stomach to get upset? She was eating fine last night (she goes nuts for Pupperoni), but this morning she won't even eat her treat. I took her out and she did her business just fine, took her on a walk and she did great, energetic, no "sick" behavior.
Is she just most likely dealing with the change in environment and diet?
Also, what would you suggest is the best play toy for a Rottweiler? I don't want to get her a tug-of-war rope toy because I don't want to encourage that behavior. Alternatives?

When you change her food, you should wean her off the old stuff. The best way to do this is 1/4 of the new food to 3/4 of the old for a few days then half and half of both, then 3/4 new or 1/4 old until she's up to 100% of the new stuff. If you just suddenly switch, it can upset their tummy and cause diarhea or even vomiting.
If you just brought her home within the last few days, i would say it is just the stress of a new place. Many animals, when in a new home, will be too excited, anxious, or distracted to eat. This may be what is happening with her. Give it a few more days and if she's still not eating, call the vet just to be safe. In the meantime, you could call the place you got her from and ask about her feeding schedule. Perhaps she's just used to eating at a different time and not hungry at the time you are feeding her.
As for toys, you are right in not getting a tug toy, that will just cause you problems in the future. There are lots of great toys out there and every dog is different, but you'll definitely want to get something durable as rotties can chew! I like kongs for my dogs stuffed with goodies, it keeps them occupied for a good time. Rope chews also seem to be favorite with a lot of dogs as well. Every rottie I've known seems to just love plain old balls though. You could try some of the fancy ones they have now that light up and make noise and all.

When you change a dogs food, it really upsets their stomach. When we got our dog she was being fed Pedigree and we switched her off without doing it gradually like you were supposed to because we didn't know what kind of Pedigree she was being fed.
She absolutely refused to eat the food dry, so we added a touch of hot water to make it soft and added in a lot of wet canned food. Over 2 weeks we slowly cut back on the amount of canned food we add it, and she is fine now (despite the runs at the beginning).
She is probably just dealing with the enviroment and food change, but watch her behaviour. If you see anything unusual, contact your vet.
Toy wise, I suggest dinosaur bones, tennis balls, kongs, and a rope. Although you don't want to play tug of war with her, often times they are content on just chewing on the rope by herself.
Good luck with the rottie! I'm sure you will make her a very happy dog :)

More than likely she is just adjusting to the new food.
My five year old "little dog" frequently will go for a day without eating her food. She might take a cookie or two, but for whatever reason she just doesn't feel like eating. (Probably hoping a steak will drop out of the sky).
By the next morning, she is ready to eat again. I wouldn't worry as long as she is happy, drinking water, and showing no signs of illness. If it goes longer than a day, then try offering something extra special...if she doesn't take it, then you might need a trip to the vet.
As far as toys go, Kongs stuffed with good things like dog cookies, peanut butter, etc. are the bomb. It challenges them, gives them a project, and doesn't involve tugging or pulling behavior. Many people will freeze them in the summer to add a cool treat for their pets.

It's probably just the change in her diet. As for toys...my Rotti loved her Kong toy. They are made of a really strong rubber and they love to chew on them.

Your dog might be at the early developing stages of pregnacy start checking if she grows nipples and gets heavier. If she is fix then look for clues to she if she misses something or if she is sad over another dogs death.

Make her work for her food, try a longer walk, at a swifter pace. She'll get hungry, and eat.
