I don't know the details but my hubby said it was pretty routine except for a few parts... if I tried to tell you I'd probably be wrong since its been a few years. It's alot of sitting around and it takes all day since there are so many people trying to do the same thing. Wish my hubby was home to give me more info.. good luck. You will soon learn that the Army has alot of protocol you have to follow that doesn't always make sense at the time but somehow works.

They want to make sure you show up in the morning. usually around 2:00 am.
The physicals include an EKG, a running test, a lung capacity test and an advanced drug test. If you have taken ANY drugs during the last 10 years, they'll catch it and jail you for trying to join under false pretences.
As you'll probably be seeing combat and the guts of your fellow soliders, they also do some rigerous psychological exams to weed out the mentally weak. At some unknown point they wil star to fire a fake? rifle at you to simulate the surprise of combat. Don't worry, they do it AFTER the EKG.
If you are a woman you spend an hour and a half looking at pictures of deformed people to test your empathy. The more empathy, the less likely you'll make it into the military.
Boot camp is now more hardcore than it was in my time. The drill sergeants use sleep depervation and drugs to inhibit your sex drive. (It wears off after a year or so.) The firing range includes your rifle, a pistol, an anti-tank missle, and of course grenades. Every once in a while there is a casulty, but I wouldn't worry about it.
Enjoy your time in the military, I hope you don't get killed in Iraq.

One of the reasons they have you stay the night at meps is its alot easier to get all your paperwork squared away the day before and get you up to a hotel close to meps. Instead of running around at 0200 trying to get everything together. As fars as test you will do eye exam, hearing test, duck walk, piss test and all kinds of othere little things, then you will go pick your job, its going to be a long day for you. And as far as the high speed marine (pogue) saying his basic training was alot harder and longer, and if you go to Ft. Benning which is the home of the Infantry your basic training will be just as hard if not harder than anyones, it just makes marines feel better cuz we really know whos doing all the real work in Iraq especially where I am at right now.

MEPS is a facility that checks your eligibility to enter the military. The preform drug test, Eye checks, medical exams, administer testing, PT testing, interview applicants, and Handle the logistics of sending people to boot camp.
There is really no good way to tell you what boot is like. There is a video produced by the Discovery channel on the Marine boot camp. I would rent it to get a better idea of what you will face.

the physical you will take is similiar to a yearly physical with your primary care physician. They will check you over for any deformities or anything that could cause problems later down the line during boot camp and it's intensive training program. They will also give you written exams to test you for any psychological problems. Staying overnight is expedient rather than have you return as there will be a lot of potential recruits to perform physicals on. Hope that helps.

you dont have to but Im sure you dont wanna wake up early as hell and try to get down to MEPS. It just cause your recruiter probably doesn't want to pick you up at 3 in the morning, instead you just get up at 4-5 in the morning and go to MEPS at about 6.
Its just a full physical you know vision test, hearing test, turn your head and cough, check to see how much weight you can lift, blood pressure, urinalysis, blood work, some perlimnary paperwork, and see any doctors they tell you to.

That was a long time ago for me, the first day was the written test and the second was the physical. They check your eyes, ears, balance, feet, spine, blood tests....its a physical. As for boot camp, well I'm a Marine can't help you there except to say mine was allot harder and longer. Good luck bro.

At MEPS they will test your blood pressure, your eyesight, color blindness, depth perception, hearing, height, and weight. They also give you a breathalizer test. You also give a blood and urine sample. You also have to do these weird exercises in your underwear. You will also fill out a lot of paperwork.
