The pope is actually a lot more progressive on evolution than many fundamentalists or evangelicals are. The Catholic church supports evolution and says it is in no way inconsistent with their belief in God. The pope, or at least the last one, is fairly science friendly. Stephen Hawkings met the last pope and said he was very interested in and supportive of his work up to the point of investigating how the universe began. That he felt was God's work and should not be questionable. As for saying God is a myth, I think its unlikely someone that invested in a belief system will go there.

The current Pope agrees with the former Pope on his opinions. The Catholic Church has definitive teachings on evolution and science, but not on all areas.
Truth Cannot Contradict Truth
Address of Pope John Paul II to the Pontifical Academy of Sciences (October 22, 1996)
http://www.newadvent.org/library/docs_jp02tc.htm
"Methodical research in all branches of knowledge, provided it is carried out in a truly scientific manner and does not override moral laws, can never conflict with the faith, because the things of the world and the things the of the faith derive from the same God. The humble and persevering investigator of the secrets of nature is being led, as it were, by the hand of God in spite of himself, for it is God, the conserver of all things, who made them what they are" (CCC 159). The Catholic Church has no fear of science or scientific discovery.

As far as your remark about God being a myth, try this:

The Vatican endorses evolution.
John Paul said:
Today, almost half a century after publication of the encyclical, new knowledge has led to the recognition of the theory of evolution as more than a hypothesis. It is indeed remarkable that this theory has been progressively accepted by researchers, following a series of discoveries in various fields of knowledge. The convergence, neither sought nor fabricated, of the results of work that was conducted independently is in itself a significant argument in favor of the theory.

Define "finds out". I think that most religious leaders would reject most forms of evidence against their beliefs in order to resolve cognitive dissonance. Also, they have way too much personally invested for them to be able to view the issue objectively. So long as they can placate their intellects by claiming that "fossils were put there by God to test us" or "he moves in mysterious ways that man cannot understand", then there is no reasoning with them.
Ultimately, I think the Pope would view even the most conclusive evidence as being a "test" by Satan...

I think he has found out the truth about evolution and science. I think he still believes in God, though. I think he's trying to reconcile the two ideas.

i admire your questions Thomas. I smile as quickly as I study them. What if the pope does discover out the reality. the only reality i comprehend, and the only reality that lasts, is that jesus is my savior. properly then, if the pope unearths out the reality, he will have a relationship with the father by our Lord Jesus
