Unit Armorer: Must be trained as an Armorer. Commanders will determine the reliability and trustworthiness of personnel before they are assigned duties involving control of an arms room
Appointment Orders. Verify the following individuals have been appointed by the current commander on orders:

(a) The Armorer

(b) The Assistant Armorer

(c) The Arms Room Officer

(d) The Seals Custodian

(e) The SARPs custodian (E6 or above)

Since every 30 days you are supposed to perform a 100% serial-number inventory - you can (and will) be considered to be responsible for the contents.

Besides - you should have conducted your own 100% inventory the moment you took over.
