and i was thinking about painting my wall that my bed is against black.. does anyone have any suggestions that might go good with that. i have a great big sliding door out to my porch in the room with a killer view of the mountains and i wanted to know what color window treatments would go with it. by the way i am not gothic or a dark person i just want somthing different and a little bold. thanks

You've got a couple of options. Black goes with anything so it just depends on the look you want to achieve. You could go with beiges and tans if you want to keep it simple, burnt orange and reds if you want it bold or greens and blues if you want it cheery. If you have a great view of the mountains, I would keep the window treatments simple, like sheer drapes. If privacy is an issue get a double rod, put a thicker curtain in the back and put sheer drapes in front that way you can have three looks. The best thing to do when you're not sure how things will look together is to group them and then look at them while squinting, you'll get a better idea of how everything will look once in the room.

Sounds nice. I hope you have a nice fancy bed because that area of the room will obviously be the main focus now lol. Actually any color window treatments can go with black. It is a value, just like white. Anything goes with white. In my opinion, white and red look great with black. I think that color scheme would look extraordinary in a large room. They’re very bold colors. I'd go with black curtains though to balance out the walls and I would get a black bed set with simple designs on it and red and white pillows.

Okay, so you're going to do what you like no matter what. But, why try having a dark room with a perfect view?... Especially when the sun comes out and shines towards your room you're going to want something bright and excentric. I say if you do go black maybe do an off white or a peach color for the window treatment. But, if you don't go with the black I say go a light green with maybe white window treatment.

take a look at the new HGTV bedroom. It has a B&W theme and looks great it's a mt. house. Their bed is black, but you could paint your bed white on a Black wall and copy the rest of the room! They used large B&W checked bedcover. You should use Eggshell Paint as a flat black would look awful !!! Sweet Dreams !!!
