My girlfriend is 10 years older than me, and we are very much in love. Although our age is different, we share so many other feelings and attitudes, age is just a subject that rarely comes up. Love conquers many things, but it has a hard time with prison bars. I wish you the best. :-)

I don't understand this--you just met the guy. Considering he's been in prison for 10 years, I'd imagine that any female would look good to him. That's not to mention all the baggage he's carrying--again those 10 years in prison.
How do you know that he's through with the criminal life? Many in prison meet convicts worse than themselves--are you certain that you even want to consider dating him?
Most people will think that nine years at your age is a lot--different if you were 27 and he was 36--that would be acceptable, in the eyes of most. You are legal--but still young.
Good luck, whatever you decide. You are going to do what you want, anyway--and you are old enough to. Try to make wise decisions--adult decisions.

Personally I think people can be too far apart in age for it to work out well. All too often a big age gap also means a big gap in general interests, musical likes and dislikes, favorite activites ... all those things. Of course it really depends on the two people, but as a rule it disn't work out as well as it does with people of very similar age.

Run ... the other way. This man just got out of prison. He has been locked up for 10 years. All he wants from women is sex. Lots of sex. Lots of women. Maybe someday you two will be relationship material, but for now, you are too emotionally immature for what he wants. Don't mistake lust for love.

This sounds like a match make in heaven to me. You should have said he was in prison for rape and you would have really pissed the people on here off. Some people take everything on here serious..

I would advise that you don't go out with someone old enough to be your father (due to being in different stages of your life’s and such).
However if you think it will work, go for it! Only you can decide if your relationship is right for you.

as long as you are both consenting Adults, and you take the time to get to really know a person... to you, age won't matter. to general society or the church or your concerned parents, age is a Huge issue.

In your case, age is the least of your worries. Do you really want to date a convict?
