because it is easier to believe in something that can be felt and seen. for me, however, everything around me has a spiritual connection. life connects me to my higher purpose. a simple flower, for instance, can be the face of my faith. material versus spiritual? material = instant gratification. spiritual = good for the soul. a religious connection on this matter? I suppose that is up to what you believe.

Because they're tangible and easy to obtain. Funny though how all those tangible things never seem to make people truly happy. Maybe that does have something to do with religion.
