I need some help. I'm 27, single, quiet, 'handsome/cute,' or so I've been told by a number of guys/girls. I've had 2 girlfriends. I went 4 years between my first and second relationship, and now it's been almost two years since the second one.
I've read all about where to meet girls. I go to the bookstores, malls, coffeeshops, etc. Sometimes I see a girl who's by herself, or maybe with one of her friends. But I never approach her, because I am afraid i'll say hi and then just stand there not know what else to say. Or I'll come up with excuses why I can't talk to her. "She's out of my league." "She probably has a boyfriend." "She's reading/trying to study, I'd just be interrupting her," just to name a few examples. Once in a while, a girl will flirt with me and I'll blow it by not playing along, because she caught me by suprise.
I'm getting older and afraid that I may be set in my ways. I want to meet girls, I am straight, I need help. How do shy guys meet girls?

This calls for the "3 second rule".
Basically... when you see a girl that you like... you have 3 seconds to walk over and talk to her... OR you can't even look at her again. Period.
Also... try a practice excercize. The next 10 girls you see, groups of girls are even better for this... walk over and say "Hi, I'm Tom Cruise... and I'm here to talk to you about Jews for Jesus."
Don't worry about how they react or what they say or whatever. Just do it... at least 10 times. You'll see that it gets easier each time.
And if you can say something stupid like that... with confidence, and not worry about the consequences, you'll realize that it's not really a big deal to talk to women.
Actually, that line is pretty funny, you might even get a few laughs and start a conversation.

I guess there was no class on this in college. My man, you have to just get over the shyness and step to the girls, especially when thet start the flirting or you will be a lonely educated cute mofo. If your shyness is really that big an obstacle try one of two things, have a friend hook you up and possibly double date (but take notes) or try an online dating service. A few emails/IM's will help you crack your shell if not bust out of it. Also if you tell a female upfront that you are shy, most likely she will understand. Don't get shy mixed up with scared.

You should try going to a local chatroom,and then start flirting with one.Tell them to meet you somewhere,and then you can move up from there.If you don't like her say that you don't think you guys are the perfect match.

DO something fun that won't intimidate you like slip your # into her coat pocket or leave it at a place she'll see it, then if she wants, she'll call you...good luck;)
