They don't make me think about how I'm proud to be an atheist but it does make me feel better about most people in general when I see that pretty much the entire country can agree that those people suck. It gives me hope that deep down, most people are not total jerks since we can at least agree that the WBC people need to shut the hell up. They have the right to believe whatever they want but they shouldn't be allowed to harass people, especially families at funerals. We need some new laws to take care of this problem.

I am always proud to be a rational thinker in a sea of lunatics.
I will point out that Westboro Baptist Church does not make this stuff up. Crack open the Ol' Testament and you'll find out where they get their hatred and intolerance.

it is reminiscent of retaining that the Tea celebration is a collection of liberal activists attempting to make extremely-appropriate wingers look truly severe, thereby forcing moderates lower back to the left. WBC is named a collection of atheists, for this reason ability faithies will be thrown any incorrect way. In both situations, the reply is 'no', in accordance with Occam's Razor. that is alright to settle for there are real lunatics interior the international with out having to instruct to an similar type of lunacy to describe them.

And I'm proud to be an atheist, where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the man who died, how tried to take it from me
And I'll proudly stand up next to you and defend it still today
'Cause there ain't no doubt that I love this
Thank god I'm an atheist.

Not really.
It makes me feel ashamed of their actions, and proud that I would not participate in such actions even if I were a Christian. They are repulsive, but thankfully, they are a very tiny minority. Most Christians I know have far more compassion and good taste.

These people actually came to our state when a soldier from a neighboring town was killed in Iraq. They went to the funeral to hold up signs saying that he got what he deserved for being in a country that tolerates homosexuals. Their stance is that God condoned his death because Americans tolerate gay people. I agree this makes me glad to not be part of the Christian religion. I also agree that many/most Christians aren't like this. Religion does however give them their justification for this kind of hatred and bigotry. It is one of the problems with relying on ancient texts full of contradictory teaching and obscured interpetations and translations. Many people can justify a variety of stances using it.

I am proud that I was able to escape Christianity period. Westboro is an extreme case of Christianity where its members are complete lunatics.. Most Christians do not take their religion to such extremes.

They are not of The True Christian Faith.... just because they use the names Christian and Baptist don't make them either...... why do not the actions of The True Christians who peacfully protest against them ever get mention in the news.... Those westboro criminals should be in prison... they can go to "church" there.

It makes me feel cautious. The Phelps gang is too blatant to miss, too easy to condemn, too tempting an inspiration to self-congratulation. I try to keep an eye out for the more subtle forms of bigotry and zealotry, outside and inside myself. ANY idea can be carried too far, even a "rational" one.

I always feel proud to be an atheist. Those Phelps followers are not real christians. They do not personify any teachings of Jesus. They are nothing more than evil trouble makers.
