Should I avoid all bread while dieting or is it only white bread that's fattening? Are all breads fattening and some are just more fattening than others? Should you only eat a certain amount of carbs a day or what?

The best breads for you are those high in fiber and low in calorie. There a many "lite" wheat breads out there that will help fill you up, are healthy but don't contain alot of calories.

White bread should be avoided,it's sweeter and more carbohydrates, wheat is the bread of choice...yes but that depends on your weight and height, you have to be proportionate...you need to check what is your IBW-Ideal Body Weight before dieting then after that if you are 20 lbs overwieight then to be safe see your physician and ask to see a nutritionist, they are the best people to ask about how much calories you can be allowed in a day but if you are within your IBW then maybe you should just tone by working out....also drink a lot of water that surely helps

It all depends on what kind of diet you are doing. If you must eat bread..stick with whole grain and/or low carb and limit the consumption to 2 slices/day. Alternatives to bread are tortilla and pita bread. And instead of of buying the prepackaged kind (Friehoffer's, Wonder, etc) try looking in the bakery, homemade breads don't contain as much preservaties.

read labels...if the first ingrediate is enriched anything..then rule of thumb is to stay away and move on to the next.

Try to find a whole grain wheat with 15grams of Carbohydrate or less. Francisco International Bavarian Sweet Wheat is a really good one. It has 24g of Carbohydrate but it's an extra large slice of bread, if you cut it in half and it's almost the equivalent of two slices.

They say "avoid WHITES" (as in white bread , white flour, salt, sugar)........and exchange for Whole wheat bread, flour, rice... I would suggest doing that but still keeping the whole wheat products to a minimum. If you're going to have Whole Wheat pasta with chicken for dinner.....use a tomato sauce rather than a Creamy sauce.....It's alot healthier*~

Drink alot of water.....do alot of walking.....eat fish/chicken, veggies, fruits and stay away from WHITES* and junk foods~

GOODLUCK*~

you need grain from somewhere, if you eat bread, try the whole grains, 7 or 12 are great and taste good. Also try the whole wheat wraps.

aim for a whole grain bread, rather than white. You do need some carbs in your diet.

Avoid whites mostly... whole grain breads; multi-grain breads and even rye bread.... just not a lot of any. One slice for breakfast instead of two; open-faced sandwiches - that sort of thing.
