Spinach artichoke dip served with toasted italian bread. Cut the italian bread into small slices and put in cookie sheet in oven. That way they will get toasted (they will not turn in color like regular toasted bread in toaster)
Sometimes going to Costco you can actually buy the fronzen appetizers if you short on time.
If you like
A 4 layer dip
Guacamole,
Sour cream
Salsa
Sauteed chop meat
servicd with tostitios.
This should help

It really depends on the age of the participants but the best recipes I have used for my events come from 2 sources "Penn and Teller's How to Play with your food - it has really creepy and fun recipes like "Bleeding Heart Gelatin" and "Satanic Burritos" (they have the devils face literally coming through the tortilla). I also have about 10 of those cash register books that come out every year and cost about $3 there are also loads of resources in the library. You are correct about the web it is pretty much the same 10 recipes beginning with "Mummy Dog's" and ending with the "Dead Hand Punch" although clever lacking in change. I have over the past 17 years of Halloween Parties often just served regular food but in weird configurations like Spaghetti covered in Marina Aribita served from a Skull bowl or pudding in snack size ziptop bags that had been died green (in an orange bag this was a weird effect). Serve what you like just make the display interesting. Good Luck!

This is a wonderful smoked ham dip recipe. Serve with your favorite crackers! It's been a big hit when I serve it.
1 8 oz. pkg cream cheese (softened)
1/2 lb. smoked ham
8 oz. sharp or extra sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 medium onion (diced)
1/4 cup mayo
2 tsp. yellow mustard
Cut ham in small squares, I use thin sliced smoked ham. Soften cream cheese and add mustard and mayo, mix together and then add rest of ingredients mixing thoroughly. Shape into ball and serve chilled! Adjust mustard to taste.

slightly steam some asparagus
get some egg roll wraps
get some crab meat
get some cream cheese
take an egg roll wrap, put in the steamed asparagus (still crunchy) and put some crab mean and cream cheese and roll up the snack.
once you have enough rolls, put them in some vegetable oil on the stove to brown them up a bit and thats it. once you take them off the stove, cut them in half so they are easier to eat.
very VERY good and easy to make
