zoloft has worked for me for panik attacks. i wasn't depressed or anything like that so im not sure if it will help you. The best thing is to talk to your doctor. Good luck, I hope you find something that works for you.

Zoloft affects everyone differently. No anti depressent is a Miracle cure ~ It will take between 4-6 weeks to actually start having the full effect for you. But after a week or so you will start to notice the difference in your moods. You should start sleeping better/ eating better and have more of a happier mood*...and will be able to make choices/decisions more clearer for you.
Let it work before giving up on it. BUt pls do realize..it is not a miracle. If you' havnt been Happy in quite some time...you should also consider counselling to let out all thats building up inside you thats keeping you from feeling Happy*and living life. Once you get that off your chest/mind...you should start living a Happier Life*~ Stick with it*~ Do this for "YOU"~*because You Deserve it~*
Best of Luck*~ :)

Bingo Jasmine! Before you seek a prescription, sit down with a mental health profession and get an evaluation and a physical.
being unhappy or depressed can be a chemical imbalance in the brain (anti-depressants are the answer), a hormone imbalance (anti-depressants not the answer), and/ or a host of other problems.
Let a professional help you sort out the cause of your mood problems. Zoloft and other antidepressants aren't a quick fix, they bring with them side-effects and varying degrees of effectiveness. Plus, if you don't deal with the cause, nothing will work for long.

No, drugs don't make you happy. There's no such thing as a miracle drug.
Typical Side Effects: The usual for SSRIs - headache, nausea, dry mouth, sweating, sleepiness or insomnia, and diarrhea or constipation, weight gain, loss of libido. Most everything but the weight gain and loss of libido usually goes away within a couple of weeks, and Zoloft tends to be a little lighter on everything except those two as well. Like Prozac it can just kill your appetite completely instead of making you gain weight.

Not So Common Side Effects: Sweatiness, like really sweaty. Although not uncommon for SSRIs, Zoloft is a very "nervous" drug, as it can sometimes make you sweaty, shaky and generally uncomfortable in your own skin, more so than the others in this class.

Don't ever take the sleeping pills route!!

1. They will damage your liver big time and you can get into serious health problems.

2. You will get hooked up on them and you won't be able to have a normal life any more if you don't take your pills everyday.

The sleeping pills industry is damaging our health by capitalizing on our ignorance, and by distracting people from effective and natural ways to deal with this problem. I had been taking prescription sleep medications [Ambien] for over 5 years. It stopped working and I simply took more. Still did not work. Nights were very difficult - medication put me to sleep but I would wake up after 2–3 hours with a strong sympathetic response (fast pulse, pounding heartbeat, wide awake alert). It was a very difficult cycle to break. I was really in bad shape due to lack of sleep.

After years of struggling I was able to cure my insomnia naturally and pretty fast. I followed the Sleep Tracks sleep optimization program, here is their official web -site if you want to take a look: http://www.insomniacure.net

Ohhh..and Good Luck!

i use zoloft for depression/anxiety but i am not going to say it will work over night, it takes time and it depends if it is right for you and what you take ..i take 100mg and yes it does help me feel better but the doctor will help you find out what is right for you, let me tell you though zoloft like any other anti-depressent will take away your sex drive, that is becoming a big problem for me because i just got married 3 months ago and this is really starting to bother me!

Anti depressants work differently for different people.
I'll give you some examples:
My brother tried Paxil first and it took away his sex drive so he switched to Zoloft and he likes it.
His wife tried Zoloft first and it made her crazy, so now she takes wellbutrin and she likes it.
A friend tried Zoloft and it took her sex drive away, now she takes Celexa and it works for her.
I tried Paxil first and it made me nauseous, now I take Celexa and it works for me.
It depends on your levels of depression and/or anxiety.

See what your doctor prescribes first and try it. It may work or you may have to try others till you find the right one.

Seeing a therapist will help too. It helps to talk it out, always.

Good luck.

I take Zoloft as an aid to help with menopause symptoms. I can honestly say that it does make me feel better, but not every anti-depressant will work for everyone. I have taken others that did nothing for me. Talk to your doctor to see which one works for you.

Zoloft in one of many SSRI anti-depressants. They usually take about 2 weeks to work. If that one doesn't work, your doctor will try another, and another, until he finds the right one to balance the chemistry in your brain.

Hang in there!

That is an antidepressant, it does not make people feel happy or happier!!

Depression is a serious disease, it has nothing to do with being unhappy. Depressed people do not feel unhappy, they don’t feel anything and they feel guilty about it.

Unhappy and depressed is not the same thing!!

Explore other options like distancing yourself from the things you dislike, pills don't give you courage to do that and they can not make you love yourself more.
