EEK!!
DONT DO IT!
I had gotten a straightening perm done 3 or so years ago with my curly hair at a professional salon.
The first 3 or 4 weeks were awesome, and my hair was pin straight (but a little flat..)
Then, when I woke up one morning, I had TONS of hairs on my pillow, and when I brushed my hair, alot more had come out. And over the next year, I had lost almost all my hair and I had just 2 inch pieces sticking out at the tops. My thick hair had become very, very thin. And, just NOW is my hair becoming better. It looks a little burnt, but it's grown back!

Straight Perms can cause skin irritation and hair breakage. Although "no lye" perms may cause less irritation, both types of relaxers and straight perms can cause problems if they are used in the wrong way (for example, if they're mixed incorrectly or left on the hair for too long). Scratching, brushing, or combing your hair right before a chemical relaxing or perm treatment can increase these risks.

my hair is natural but i used to get "relaxers" for my hair and it does not ruin your hair if you take care of your hair just as you would after you put any chemical in it, my whole family buys cheap perms for their hair and they use it on my nieces' hair too, if you are hesitant try gentle or mild relaxer. no one ever needs a perm its just easier but that does not mean maintenance-free

most of those perms are for black hair... but if u really want to perm your hair, make sure you get a friend or a professional to help/do it for you cuz you can end up burning of a patch of hair or two!!

yeah we call them hair relaxers ... but if you dont know what your doing go to the pro's ... they are made for people who have a coarse hair texture ... if your hair is fine .... be extremely careful ... the lye in it is what makes yoor hair straight ... if you are going to do one ... go with the 'kiddie perm' the one with little girls on the package ... go with the mildest formula ... and leave it on for the mimimum time required ... if that long ...
