I know being a cop isn't about money and more about helping people. However, at the end of the day I want to have money to put food on the table and a roof over my family's head. NYPD website says that the average 1-2 years you are making in the low 30's. This I am sure is the base pay.

My question is, realistically speaking what can I expect to bring home pretax with all shift differental, holiday and overtime pay yearly. Is shooting for 50k not attainable? If anyone has recently completed their 1st or 2nd year and would care to share the information, it would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

Being a southern "cop" our counterparts from NYC make much more. Your BEST bet is to contact the NYC Police Administration Offices from which you can obtain the different pay scales and "extra's" that go with the job!

Best wishes!
