i usually use Yahoo yellow pages to conduct my local searches but i havent had luck finding doctors or schools on there because i dont think those should be searched for on a basis of proximity. Are there any resources anyone can recommend to help me make a more informed decision than randomly calling every school within a 10 mile radius please?

When we were looking for a good preschool, word of mouth was a big criteria. The places that pay for the huge slick ads may not be very good at all.
Ask some parents that you respect where they would take a child. I think you may find some very good information to help make a hugely important decision.
Another good place to check into is some of the church run preschools, they have several in my area that are well run.

I agree with "The GoTo Guy", usually referrals from other people are the best source in finding out if a preschool is good. Good recommendations from others are usually best. I too am looking for a preschool for my 2 year old who will be 3 in August. And a few of my friends as well as co-workers have given me several schools to look into. Good Luck!
