When i was in Iraq I would buy flags at the PX and then take those flags with me when I went 'outside the wire.' After I got back I would write down a general description of the mission and the date then when I returned home. I gave one of these flags to people who had sent me care packages or done something else that I regarded as supporting what we are doing over there.

I have an American flag that flew over Afghanistan on Sept 11, 2003 during Operation Enduring Freedom. I expect to put it on ebay as an auction item soon. (Today is 2/16/14)

The US is there to help not to take over Iraq or afghanistan... having the US flag only give impression of US world domination.

Ha ha ha. That is a very thought-provoking question! If put up, it would probably be bombed/burnt/run over. Ours is probably the only country to allow the flags of different nations.

Are you talking about flown over...as in involving aircraft? Or are talking about on top of a building or something?
If aircraft...you can't, both countries have restricted airspace that our military controls, otherwise charter a flight...
On top of a building, Building must be a government-controlled building, i.e., embassy, or military base.

My father knew pilots. He purchased flags at the VFW and gave them to the guys. They would take them on missions. They gave certificates with his name (given to him) the mission and hours in the air. They signed them. My father was a vet, as is my husband. When he passed we kept those flags with great honor. It amazes me how long the war continues...my husband was there during desert shield/storm...and it continues. Sad. God bless our men and women ❤
