I've noticed that certain universal truths permeate throughout all belief systems (religions, philosophies, sciences) in a certain shape or form. For instance, most belief systems share the view that what goes around comes around.

In Buddhism and Hinduism it's considered karma (more or less)

In Christianity it's called "what you sew is what you'll reap"

In Physics it's called "for every action there is a single and oposite reaction"

In Wicca it's called "what you do will return to you times three".

For this reason I consider the concept of reciprocity as a universal truth. My question to all of you is can share any others that permeated thru out all or most beliefs? I'd like to put together a list. You're help would be appreciated. Thank you.

You're right, I meant to put equal, but typed single (something else was on my mind). But I've noticed most of the answers are not actually answering my request. They're dealing with tangents. I am not an argumentative person (anymore), so I am not going to deep into the details. I am looking for other truths that permeate thru all or most belief systems--that may be a religion, philosophy, culture, or science. While knowing that it's called the golden rule (in abrahimic religions) that's not what I asked for. I asked for additional ones. And as for everything being subjective, I am not aware of that being a universal concept. So please if you can add an extra one (that again, permeates through all or most belief systems) so that I can have a list, I would appreciate it. The time for semantics and pedagogy have there place, but that's not what I'm asking for this time. Thanks again.

The Law of Attraction--we will bring into our lives people, circumstances and events that correspond to our dominant way of thinking

Murphy's Law--things will go wrong in any given situation, if you give them a chance

Law of Cause and Effect – everything happens for a reason

It's funny how the last two almost contradict each other, or maybe not. Good luck finding more.

Universal Truths List

In my religion, we say that "Every force has a counterforce." It means the same thing.

Things like the 10 commandments and the 8 fold path of Buddha have value, very much. But NOT because we're too slow to figure out right and wrong without things being written down. It OFFICIALIZES right and wrong. Anyone well enough to get up in the morning can see that there's a problem when somenone can't follow "Thou shalt not kill."

UNIVERSAL TRUTHS:

1. Good and evil are already known (even if you make an excuse).

2. All things you do come back to you in some form (Even if you don't realize the source of it when it happens).

3. There is no need to menatlly "understand God." He can take care of himself.

1. Supernatural entities do not exist.
2. Morality is completely subjective.
3. Power makes people compromise their personal values.
4. The end justifies the means.
5. People who completely trust any government or religion get burned.

Look at science, history, and logic and tell me I'm wrong.

I think Math and Physics are the only real universal truths.

The metaphysical aspects like karma and such are just self perceived and used as a guide line based rule to live a better life.

This is not so easy. Reciprocity covers nearly everything, even "There's no such thing as a free lunch."

"No peace without justice"?

Something about the power of humility?

Although you are misquoting a bit ("for every action there is an EQUAL and opposite reaction"), these represent a set of truisms that are worthwhile to consider when you are conducting your life.

However, Buddhism also teaches that all actions are interlinked. Whenever something arises, something else ceases to be.

There are many people who would laugh at the prospect of altering their destinies. This is due to the fact that it thinks that nobody gets more that exactly what is put in his destiny.
