I've made lobster before, but that was with family in central america and it was fresh from the ocean. I just heard that sometimes if they're in the tanks to long, it changes the flavor of them. Just wanted to make sure.

Honestly, online. They will send it to you alive in a cooler..as long as it's still alive, you can't get it more fresh than that. Not to mention depending where you live, you may or may not have the best type of lobster available to you. lobsteranywhere.com has some nice hardshell maine lobsters..my brother got me one for christmas..Delicious, quickly shipped. Great packaging..of course still alive with recipe booklet. The only drawback to online is...the shipping cost is pretty hefty, but you have much more variety and options of types of lobster and etc. btw for filet mignon find a good butcher with "prime" quality steak...best you can find in the US (unless you know a place you can find japanese KOBE beef..don't get suckered for the US Kobe..you might as well pay for prime). You can try a place like Omaha steaks.com for the filet mignon if there isn't a good butcher in your area..if you're not too picky and don't want to spend the extra $$$ local grocery stores work well..depends on your budget..I mean prime filet mignon and live lobsters are the best. But if you're on a budget..frozen lobster tail and a good rib eye from a Safeway isn't that bad either..an dhonestly if you're cooking dinner..what kind've person would say "oh my god..this wsa a frozen lobster tail?!?"..happy early v day.

don't get them delivered. losters out of a tank at the store are better off that lobsters in a box travelling across country. Try looking for a fish market in your area, otherwise just pick a nice active lobster. they're healthier if active.

That is the problem with EBT/Food stamps. You can't limit what a person is permitted to eat if it is classified as food. It simply would be impractical. I agree that they shouldn't be buying high end foods that cost nearly half their food stamp balance. They should be buying items that are meant for a healthy diet and can extend for the entire month. Such as canned foods, rice, beans, meats, dairy, vegetables, and cereal/oatmeal. But, lobster, crab, shrimp, prime steak, and even candy, crackers, chips, ice cream, and soda pop are all considered food items as well. it would simply be impossible to classify which is worthy and which is not worthy for consumption. Plus, you would have a lot of legal battles over it. I'm afraid the only way to combat this is to legislate for tougher rules about who can obtain EBT/Food stamps and for how long.

Make sure you know where you are buying it from if you buy it online. Just go to the supermarket to stay safe or visit a local seafood restaurant (not red lobster) and order some.

If you aren't sure about the lobster have it another time, if its alive you can't get any fresher. Go with the filet mignon with baked tater and salad guys love meat and taters!

You shouldn't buy your lobster online...yuck. Although they say its fresh they could lie. Plus if you go to the store and buy your then you can choose which one you want. You can also ask them which on is the freshest.

local grocery or fish market - that way you can see if the lobster looks 'healthy' and fresh. also at these places, they can offer to cook it for you.

as long as "those little guys" in the tank are still moving, its fine to buy them- and most stores will steam them for you for free, which means all you have to do when you get it home is heat it and season it. buying from a local store is your best bet cuz you can see what you are getting.

as for cooking it when you get home- if you had it steamed in the store, its fully cooked and just needs to be put into a 350 oven for about 15 minutes (if you havent put it in the fridge yet) have some melted REAL BUTTER with garlic and parsley to dip it in.
