Depends on your current physical condition. Push ups are always a great upper body exercise. Also curls using a small dumbell or even soup cans to begin with.

Don't worry about big muscles unless you are a woman with abnormally high testosterone. As for upper body strength, you should do a mix of bench,lat pulls, curls, dips, and pull ups.

i would recomend
push ups 8 -12 per set start with one set then go evuantaully up 4 sets
tricep dips-8-12 per set all u need for this a chair ,great for geting rid of arm flab
crunches
get a recesitnce tube they are very cheap and do curls with them also u can do shoulder and chest with them
