My sister was adding to my account incorrectly. We only wanted to link our accounts not have a joint account. She's in school and her identity was stolen and credit cards were placed in her name. The credit card co. got a judgment and garnish my account because her name was attached and wipe out my bank account. I have direct deposit and they took my entire paycheck. I just want to know what I should do and if their actions are legal.

If they got a judgement, then you don't have much recourse. I would immediately open a new account in your name only and have the DD use it instead.

Has she contacted the Federal Trade Commission? They are the ones that need to be reported to about the identity theft.
Good luck on straightening this out, credit card companies are known as being heartless for good reason.

Since there was fraud involved then your sister shouldn't have been punished at all. I don't understand why they would do that if her identity was really stolen. But, yes they can do that. Her name is on the account.
