I saw several done this year on the food channels. It's Turducken....made from partially deboned turkey, duck and hen with a layer of stuffing between each and then bound up to look like a big turkey and roasted. Gotta be good!

Turducken - Turkey with Duck and CHicken wrapped in the turkey and cooked.
Paula Dean of the Food Channel does that show several times each year around Thanksgiving and Christmas. If you go to the food channel web-site and click on Paula Dean you can find the instructions to assemble and cook.

It hasn't disappeared it's just a holiday thing. I did a Turducken for Christmas and it came out terrific. It's a lot of prep work but worth it in the end. Deboning the birds took time but once done everything else was a breeze.

Most families can't even finish one bird so I guess the fad was just too much work to prepare. Also, a lot of ppl have a Christmas ham, instead.

All birds have been boned out by ability of me. all started with a goose, left wings on, then a turkey, then duck, then rooster, then pheasant, then partridge, then grouse . I positioned stuffing layer between each and every chook and easily used the breasts of the pheasant, partridge and grouse. Goose Turkey Duck rooster Pheasant Partridge Grouse. I cooked it for 4 hours on my rotissere. It became surprising. Had it chilly besides for Boxing. I shrink it interior the direction of the midsection and then sliced it you will be able to desire to work out all the layers.

I think the fad faded as it was bad enough having to eat a turkey, never mind eating the duck and the chicken! Good question though, I think it was a marketing ploy by the supermarkets!
