i have had a sams club membership for about a year now and use it at least once a week. i buy my pork loin roast and pork ribs there (they are a better quality than i can get anywhere else- even wal mart) as well as a 10 lb log of ground beef (its 95% fat free- hard to find elsewhere as well)
i also buy my paper products there and my spices- my daughters diapers and wipes too.
my boneless skinless chicken breasts come from there- cant get the ones that are pounded evenly anywhere else. i also buy computer paper, ink and office supplies there... i have bought my flatware for my kitchen there, as well as my knives and cutting boards-- i think my mother in law bought my pots and pans there for christmas last year too!
they have an awesome supply of electronics like cordless phones (which i also bought there) and digital cameras and stereos...
i also buy my Rx meds there...
i really cant think of much they DONT sell! you can go in on a guest pass to look around, and if you find something you want to buy, just take it to the register and tell them you want to buy a membership- they will charge you the $40 fee and sell you the products at a discount.

Food, hygiene products, cleaning products, paper goods. Ooops that four. It just depends as far as how much I want to spend or how often I want to go to the store I guess as to how much I will spend or buy. I think we might use our membership one-twice a year. I am not a fan...I can go to the meat store and get a better quality of meat that really is cut fresh and packaged the way I want for a fraction more and not just prepackaged stuff that looks like meat but doesn't taste like it. I can go to another store and guarantee that what I want is always there and not just a promotional thing. I hate our Walmart because it is so big and always overcrowded...associates are not polite (and after working there I understand why) I'd rather keep people in business that deserve to be in business...and not just give in to these power companies...that don't want to pay loyal associates a thing and find ways of screwing everyone that works for them. Sam's since it is owned by the same people I would assume it is very similar...and I dont back them up on their lack of values. I'd rather pay the extra buck for good companies than save up for bad ones. It would be similar to saving for a vacation that is going to suck, but hey that's just me...but the way I see it...it won't change unless we make it...thus why I say...it's not worth it.

Paper products, laundry detergent and light bulbs. Light bulbs are the biggest bargain. They cost a fraction of what you pay in the supermarkets. The trouble with Sam's Club is that you have to take what they have at any given time (there isn't the broad choice of brands that you have in a supermarket), and you have to buy in bulk. If you can store large quantities, you can save money. I go at least once a month. You can save quite a lot on office supplies, computer paper, pens, that kind of thing, too. If you pack school lunches, there are great packs of individual snack items available.

Items are all in bulk, or large sizes. If you use coupons (Sam's does not take) and shop smart, you can get better deals in local grocery stores. They do have some good prices and special items, so I think overall it's worth it to shop there. Just be aware of the products you use.
For example, I like canned green peas. You have to buy at least 6 cans at Sam's, but the price is not usually any better at the local market (where I can use coupons also).

Well, I don't have a membership to Sam's Club, but I have one to Costco, which is pretty much the same idea.
I think whenever I go, the things I buy most often, is meat (fish, and poultry included), milk, and water.
However, I'm one of those guys who goes shopping and buys random stuff. And trust me, a place like Costco and Sam's Club has no shortage of random things....I tend to walk out with DVDs, electronic gadgets, tools....whatever I think I "need" at the time.
How much of a particular I buy really depends on the product. For the things I buy most often, I typically buy one item of it....but at wholesale places like this, buying one item typically meaning buying like 1-2 individual items that come bundled. Like milk never comes with ONE single gallon. It's always two gallons in one box.
Prices will vary on all the items, and really, the savings you get with shopping at places like these comes from the idea of buying bulk.
I go to Costco almost every weekend...
Hope this helps.

In this case it is Sam's Club, the apostrophe is possessive as in the club belonging to Sam.

Top three: Bounty, Charmin & meats. And to be honest, I don't think I get such an advantage from shopping there. The prices are not as good as they should be, which means the annual fee eats your potential savings. The real savings are in the more expensive things like computers, tv's, generators, etc. On the other hand, I can find items there that I usually can't find at the grocery store, like many varieties of cheese, wine & other liquors, and fridge goodies.

Honestly, I've had one for a couple of years. The main thing I buy there is meat. It's generally pretty reasonable there. Just remember you have to buy in bulk, so you have buy like 10lbs of hamburger at a time and things like that.
Unless you buy a lot of groceries at one time, I wouldn't suggest it. Most of the other stuff they have can be found just as reasonable at other stores.
I doubt i'll renew my membership. I just don't use it very much.

I had a Costco membship (same thing) but didn't renew it because I didn't have the space to store all the stuff I got there.
Plus, I'd spend about 300 bucks when I went but still needed to go to the grocery store to buy bread, etc.
I would not recommend it for a small family.
