I'm 30 years old and in graduate school. I stopped working before starting school and the only 'income' I have is around 20k in student loans.

You don't. If you are living off financial aid it is probably all nontaxable income, in some cases if you are receiving funds over the cost of attendance you will be required to file taxes on the amount over but I have never seen a student packaged with loans go over.
