I have nearly waist length curly hair and I can tell you that unless you are blow-drying your hair straight you should NEVER allow a hairbrush near your hair. If you are blow-drying the hair you need to use a brush that has a ceramic surface so that the brush heats up and acts as a pressing iron. It will reduce the drying time and provide the sleekest results. Now, if you wish to leave your hair in its normally curly state there are a few tricks I use not only in the salon, but at home. First is to choose a shampoo and conditioner designed for curly hair and to use an intense conditioner at least once a week. When you shampoo your hair do not scrub it together, instead start at the scalp and gently scrunch the shampoo into the hair, massaging the scalp and working down to the ends. When you apply the conditioner use a generous amount and then with a wide toothed comb (sold in any department store) comb the hair from the ENDS to the scalp to distribute the conditioner through your hair. This will insure you don't pull on the hair more than necessary and to remove any knots or tangles. After you have rinsed your hair of conditioner (remember not to mash the hair around to create more tangles), give it a final rinse with cool (not cold) water. The cool water will close up the cuticle (outer) layer of the hair. Squeeze out the excess water and use a microfiber towel (available in most hair-supply stores, like Sally Beauty supply) and continue to squeeze, not rub, the hair. You will find that you hair is far less tangled and it will require a lot less fussing with to get the frizz-less results you are looking for. To insure that it stays smoothe I recommend applying a good dollop of Tresemme Touchable Curls Shaping Milk or Tresemme Ultra Light Smoothing Creme. After you apply either of these products use the wide tooth comb to distribute them evenly. Now you can give your hair a bit of a scrunch with your hand to shape the curls in a way that you like. Continue giving it some scrunching as it dries naturally or if you prefer to blow dry only dry your hair with a diffuser (also available at Sally Beauty Supply) so it doesn't disturb the curl formation. Hope this helps.

Use a wide tooth comb just after you take a shower. You should always comb but dont use a brush because it will cause it to be super frizzy. Also you should be sure to use a conditioner when you shampoo.

make sure you use conditioner when you wash your hair. comb through with an anti-frizz gel or some styling gel, or even hairspray. it will help weigh down the frizzy hairs and will also help you look schnazzy. good luck sean

Comb it just in case you run into a very good looking person who prefers your hair grooming to be top notch. Better to be prepared for being loved than being ignored by your future soulmate.

comb wet hair and brush dry hair
if it tends to be frizzy then don't touch it once it's dry.
try some pomade (just a dab rubbed thru hands and then hair)
