So, you are 11. And you are wondering if you are fat? REALLY??

Your mom (and others) is right! Are you actually looking for someone to tell you that you are fat? Is that honestly what you want to hear? Why would you do that to yourself! You're fine. You're normal! Fortunately, it's normal at your age to wonder if you are normal.

Please, stop worrying about your weight for the next 10 years or so - once you are out of puberty. I'm sure you have plenty of other things to worry about. Unless your doctor puts you on a diet, you should not be on one until age 20 anyways. Give your body the opportunity to grow right now.

This is on the low end of normal for an adult of your height, but since you are only 12, this is o.k. For an adult woman of your height, you could be up to 130 pounds and still be in the normal (not fat) range. In any case, do NOT try to lose weight. This will drop you below the normal range, and you run serious health risks if you get any thinner. At your age, you still have a huge nutrition requirement to make sure your bones and muscles develop the way they should, so make sure you eat lots of healthy food!
