If you don't have a lot. I'd use a hammer and chisel. Make sure you get up all of the mortar off the floor.

If you have a really large job you can rent a power chisel.

It's a great job to get some aggression out although a bit dusty.

I've found that if the tile is installed over smooth concrete, a heavy duty long handled floor scraper tends to work well. You'll still need the hammer and chisel to get started though. Don't forget to wear eye protection!

Pretty easy to do just very messy. If its on the floor get a cold chisel and hammer away. you will need to take it down to the sub floor. if its on the walls try to pop them off with a flat tool. Chances are you will damage drywall or backerboard no matter what you do. plan on having to replace it .

All that I can suggest is a chisel and a hammer. But, of most importance PROTECT YOUR EYES, safety goggles. Also, to protect you're walls from flying debris, you may want to stand a sheet of plywood against.
