I gather you are talking about Roman Catholic priests. Not me but I have a friend who considered becoming a priest when he was younger, he is now married. He has said on many occasions he would strongly consider the priesthood if the church changed the rules. He thinks that the church will have to do something, and soon, because there are so few priests and so few seminarians. He feels the church is more likely to change the rule on celibacy than to change to rule against women priests. The church did allow married priests in the past, there have never been women priests.

A priest has a vocation and is Married to the Church. As a married couple is married to each other, the Priest is married to the Church. St.Paul tells us it is better if you are not married I am interested in becoming a permanent deacon in the future, where you can be married if you get the calling when your already married. I love the teaching on celibacy, do a search on catholic, com. Also,In the Eastern Rite priests may marry.
