My 16 month old seems to be showing intrest in the potty. My other 2 were at least 2 before they even became aware of their bodily functions. She walks up to me and says poo poo after she goes but she doesn't want me to change her. When I'm in the bathroom and flush she says bye bye pee pee and waves as it goes down. Should I get her a potty or is she too young? She still hates to be changed and doesn't mind being wet at all.

There was a woman at my daughter's old day care who started her children with potty training around 18 months of age. Your daughter sounds like she might be ready to give it a try. Since you have two other children, you probably already know what to do as far as encouragement is concerned. I'd say there's nothing wrong with buying her a potty. If she's ready to sit on it, she will. Maybe she'll only sit on it clothed at first, but if she wants to sit on it bare-bottomed, there's certainly nothing wrong with that. My daughter was under 2 when I started potty training her, and she surprised me by wanting to sit on the potty right away. She peed on the potty many times before she would go poop on there, but I don't regret starting her a little young.

I think my Grandma had my Mom potty trained when she was around your daughter's age, so it's never too soon if they're showing signs.

If she's interested, there's no reason not to have a little potty on hand for her to use when she wants! Who knows - maybe she'll just train herself and you'll get off easy this time around! My first daughter was interested very young and we got her a potty when she was about 15 months old. She'd use it from time to time, but wasn't really potty trained until she was 3. Why not give her the option, though?

Yes. This is the best time to start training. She notices when she poops and pees get her a singing pot chair those seem to work all the time.
