It is about 35-40 degrees out, would it be okay to shop on my lunch break and leave chicken and veggies in my car until 6 tonight without the chicken going bad?

i wouldnt risk it- technically the chicken should be fine in a temp of 40 degrees, but if the sun shines directly on your car, that will make the temp inside your car much warmer than the outside temp- which can cause your chicken to reach an unsafe temp and make you sick.

the veggies will be fine as long as the temp does not drop below 35, as they will freeze and turn to mush.

do yourself a favor, for both your wallet and your stomach- go shopping after work!

Get a cooler or make sure the car is out of the sun. Chicken is nothing to play around with.

Chicken and dairy are a prob. Veggies fine. The temp would be good but it doesn`t get as cold inside the car as out....

Yes, 35-40 degrees is as cold as your refrigerator is. I mean, 32 is freezing, right? I leave groceries in my car all the time in the winter.

Degrees Celsius forget it. Otherwise it should be fine. Just remember if you leave a plastic water bottle in a car. it heats up the plastic and arsenic gets deposited in the water, arsenic being a deadly poison.

I won't take the chance especially if I had cold stuff like chicken, hamburger meat and milk. It doesn't seem smart to me no matter what the weather is.

Bring a cooler i do it in the summer months when I go shopping and have a few errands to run at the same time.

Everything except meats and dairy are ok. Meats and dairy should be in the fridge. Remember, yor car doesn't get that cold or you would have frost on the inside.

It should be o.k. My Aunt has a culinary degree and she always says that food starts to spoil after 14 hrs so if by all day you mean a work day then you should be O.K.

Chicken is too scary but, maybe if you put all your frozen foods with it in a cooler it will be okay.
